Blog post #33 - Crosscutting and parallel editing
Crosscutting can be used in film to show a sense of urgency, juxtaposition, tension and suspense in a scene.
A recent movie that uses cross-cutting is the movie Oppenheimer(2023).
My classmate's assignment is a good example of cross-cutting and parallel editing. The editing shows the different reactions between the couples break up. It contributes to the narritive by showing the difference in what they both do.
In my film i will use cross-cutting by showing the reaction of Noah to his friends being in danger and the reactions of his friends messing with him. The cross cutting shows the juxtaposition of the characters and creates tension upon Noah arriving at their house.
