In comedy movies there are usually major problems that occur. In the movie No Hard Feelings(2023), Maddie is trying to make Percy feel loved and that he is not "a loser". She goes through an entire process of making him feel loved an in the process many things go wrong.
Percy's parents are side characters that are major points in the plot. The parents hire Maddie to "fall in love" with their son. Both of the characters are good examples of how in comedy movies, there are a lot of side quests and characters that only show up for a small amount of time in the movie. This happens because the writer does not want the audience to create relationships with characters other from the main ones.
